Credit Crisis Blog Post

The credit crisis is where crucial funds to buisnesses are being cut off. This is caused by the channels of credit being constricted. Also, many companies are being seized by the government due to the credit crisis. To try to fix this, the federal government adopted a $700 billion bailout plan to help get credit flowing again. The problem with this plan is that people are going to be taxed more, and this is what could have started the problem in the first place. I think the bailout plan works temporarily, but is not a complete answer to the problem. (http://topics.nytimes.com/topics/reference/timestopics/subjects/c/credit_crisis/)

CREDIT CARDS

I am comparing the Citi premirepass-elite level card and the Chase+1 student mastercard. With the citi premirepass-elite level card you recieve 2 point with every $1 that you spend and 1 point with every mile flown. With the Chase student master card, you recieve points for music, electronics, movies, and more. The Chase card has no annual fee, but the Citi card has a $75 annual fee that needs to be paid. With the chase card you also earn karma points if you have a good credit score. The Citi card has a high APR at 13.24%. I would choose the chase +1 student mastercard because there are no annual fees, the APR is not high, and the point you earn work for things that I like. The points work for things that students enjoy to do. The citi card had too high of an APR, and you had to pay an annual fee of $75. The citi card had a good point system, but in the end would end up costing too much.

The problem with our healthcare system is deciding who will pay for health care. As of now, Obama is taxing the wealthy in order to get money for the health care system. I do see how this is a difficult problem to solve, but taxing the wealthy seems a bit unfair. This plan could solve the problem, but is just going to create anger among the wealthy. You never know, the money that is being taken away frome wealthy people for health care could potentially be enough to put their house in foreclosure, or doing othere damaging things. In Canada, the government funds their healthcare system. All residents recieve prepaid coverage. People in poverty and elders will benefit from the healcare refom because poor people will not be taxed for healthcare, and elderly people recieve healthcare. These two groups of people will benefit from this while the wealthy are being taxed in unfair ways.

I think it is terrible that un employment rates have raised this much. Many people are being let go from their jobs and being forsed to look for new ones. Finding a new job at this point in time is a very difficult task. College students are graduating, and it is unfortunate that they need to try to start their lives and get a job in this terrible economy. The job that these students have always wanted to pursue may no longer be an option because no one is hiring. They may be forsed to settle for a job because its all they can get and they need the money. Many people in the construction and retail industries have been let go. On a positive note the nursing and education/schooling industries always have openings for workers. This is good for me because teaching is something I am considering doing in my future. Also, hourly wages and weekly earnings are increasing which is a good thing. Something needs to be done about the current economy. The employment rates need to increase so that people can work for and wherever they want to work, and be able to afford nessesities and some luxuries.
